Extended Cookie Policy
In accordance with Art. 13 of Legislative Decree 196/2003 of the Code on the protection of personal data and EU Regulation 679/2016, the user must be informed about the use of cookies on the site, both technical and profiling, and consent to the use of profiling cookies.
This website uses technical cookies to improve user experience on the site, may use third-party cookies, and also profiling cookies for sending targeted advertising messages aligned with the user’s preferences. For profiling cookies, including those from third parties, the visitor's consent is required. Please check the cookies used via the banner visible on any page of the site before granting consent for processing.
What cookies are
In general, cookies are small text files containing information that the server of the website visited by the user sends to the user’s device. The same server will read them again on the next visit to obtain various kinds of data. While browsing the site, cookies may also be received from other websites or servers, so-called third-party cookies, i.e. set by a site other than the one you are visiting. This happens because the site may contain elements that reside on different servers.
Cookies, usually present in large numbers in users’ browsers and sometimes with extensive temporal persistence, are used for different purposes: performing computer authentications, session monitoring, storing information on specific configurations regarding users accessing the server, selecting language preference, storing shopping carts, etc.
Pursuant to Measure no. 229/2014 of the Data Protection Authority, two macro-categories are identified:
TECHNICAL COOKIES. Technical cookies ensure the correct functioning of the site and a better browsing experience for the user. They are always sent, allowing every section to be displayed correctly. They are always used regardless of user preferences since no prior consent is required, and include:
- session and navigation cookies, useful for normal use of the website, also used by our Site. They contain the information used during your current browser session; these cookies are automatically deleted when you close the browser. Nothing is stored on your computer beyond the time of use of the site.
- functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of criteria, such as language selection;
- analytical cookies, used directly by the site manager to collect information, in aggregated and anonymous form, on the number of users and on how they visit the site;
- persistent cookies, stored on the visitor’s device and which help reconnect to the site at the start of a new session. They are used to retain information between visits, or for technical purposes and to improve navigation. This allows websites to recognize that you are a returning visitor and adjust accordingly. “Persistent” cookies have a duration set by the website, which can vary from a few minutes to two years.
PROFILING COOKIES. Profiling cookies are used to send targeted advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user during navigation. They create a personalized profile based on visited pages. Due to the particularly invasive impact these devices may have on users’ privacy, European and Italian regulations require that the user be adequately informed and provide valid consent. Article 122 of the Privacy Code specifies that “the storage of information in the terminal equipment of a subscriber or user or access to information already stored is permitted only on condition that the subscriber or user has given their consent after being informed by simplified means under Article 13, paragraph 3 of the Privacy Code.”
This site uses profiling cookies as described in the following paragraphs.
First-party cookies
These are cookies installed by the same operator of the site visited by the user (“first-party” cookies). First-party cookies are created and readable only by the website that created them. This site uses first-party technical cookies, for which, as mentioned, consent is not required, only this information notice.
Third-party cookies
These are cookies installed by a website other than the one the user is visiting, via the first operator (“third-party cookies”). Third-party cookies are created and readable by domains external to the site, with data stored by the third party, subject to its cookie and data processing policy.
This site may use the following third-party cookies. Please check the cookies used via the banner visible on any page before granting consent.
Google Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies to collect and anonymously analyze information on how users interact with the site (e.g., IP address). The information is transmitted to Google, which processes it to produce reports about activities on the website. Google does not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google nor attempts to link an IP address with the identity of a computer user.
Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required by law or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. By using this site and accepting cookies, you consent to your data being processed by Google in the manner and for the purposes described above.
In any case, to allow visitors to opt out of its processing, Google has developed the browser add-on for deactivating Google Analytics JavaScript (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en).
Social Sharing. The Site also allows users to express preferences through interaction with other applications. For example, by clicking the specific button on the Site pages, the user can access their Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Instagram profiles to express, share, or report their preference about Site content. The duration of these cookies ranges from a single session to two years after visiting the page.
Facebook Pixel. The Facebook Pixel cookie makes it possible to track conversions that occur on the website as a result of ads run on Facebook. For example, when monitoring sign-ups to a specific Facebook campaign, the cookie communicates to Facebook each time a user joins that campaign. Facebook then matches the conversion event with the group of people who saw or clicked the ad, in order to provide data to measure return on advertising spend.
Facebook Connect. This allows users already registered on Facebook to authenticate on the site without requiring login credentials entered at registration. This site may adopt, if the user chooses to use it, the Facebook Connect system and cookies to integrate the site login with the user’s Facebook account. In addition to simplifying sign-up, Facebook Connect allows the website to extend some of Facebook’s functions directly on the site, making content sharing easier.
DoubleClick. DoubleClick is a Google platform to manage marketing campaigns in search engines, analyze ad or keyword performance in search engines.
Please note that third parties may use this information, combining it with other data already available, for purposes beyond strictly technical ones (functionality or session), with the user’s prior consent. For more details, consult the privacy policies of each third party and manage your settings through the provided links and/or by configuring your browser as described below.
Disabling non-essential cookies
You can disable all cookies on this site, except those necessary for correct navigation, by clicking the appropriate group check box in the short information notice displayed on first entry to the site.
Please note, Google has launched a service called “Personal Account” that allows users to manage their data and privacy more precisely, choosing what information to share with Google when using its services. Inside it, you will find all tools Google provides to protect privacy. The “Privacy Service” also provides answers to the most common questions on privacy and security.
Users can also choose to disable personalized advertising by visiting the Ads Settings page. Alternatively, users can opt out of third-party personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
Previously set cookies
If the user has disabled one or more cookies, we may still use information collected before the disabling. However, from that point on, the disabled cookies will no longer be used to collect additional data.
